Network status

The fiber was repaired at about 5:00 AM this morning. A dump truck had pulled down fiber from several pole spans yesterday morning.

3:21 PM - French Broad Electric estimates the fiber repair will be done this evening, by midnight at the latest.

11:39 AM - French Broad Electric reports a fiber cut between Micaville and Burnsville. They are working on it. No ETA available. This outage affects subscribers in Yancey and Mitchell counties.

Power is restored to Barnett Mtn.

Loss of power at the Barnett Mtn. site has been determined to have occurred due to some digging that was done near where the buried power cable is run. A team will be dispatched tomorrow to investigate further and hopefully repair the line.

Repairs at Barnett Mtn. have had delays due to the complexity of the site and number of entities involved. We will be revisiting the site with an electrician tomorrow to pinpoint where the loss in power is occurring.

Our equipment cabinet on Barnett Mtn. is not getting power. We are testing the wiring and outlets to determine where the fault is. FBEMC reports their power feed to the site is working OK.

Service to downtown Marshall is restored. FBEMC had more fiber damage caused by squirrels.

We are working on an unrelated problem at Barnett Mtn.

FBEMC will repair a fiber cable tonight from 6:00pm–7:00pm. All of Marshall and Barnett Mtn. are affected.

The wireless backhaul link that serves Bakersville has been down the last two days. We are doing repairs today.
