5th Annual Kenilworth celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.! Monday, January 19 in the Fellowship Hall of Kenilworth Presbyterian Church 123 Kenilworth Rd. 28803. Potluck from 5:30-6:30pm and the program will begin at 6:30pm.

The program for the evening is the “History of Civil Rights in WNC and the Current State of Racism Affecting Black Asheville.” Dr. Darin Waters, Assistant Professor of History at UNCA, will be speaking about the history of civil rights in WNC and Dr. Dwight Mullen, Professor of Political Science at UNCA and an expert in African-American Politics, will address the current state of racism as it relates to Black Asheville. The evening will be moderated by Marvin Chambers a founding member of A.S.C.O.R.E. (Asheville Student Committee on Racial Equality) and an icon of the Civil Rights Movement in North Carolina.

There will be entertainment by the UAI Boyz from the Urban Arts Institute. We will have DJ Profe$$ah G. spinning great tunes and will have craft projects for children.
