Sigma Xi presentation on Outer Banks feral horses

17 Oct 2013

Warren Wilson College biology professor Jessa Madosky, Ph.D., will present a lecture titled "Impacts of Management on Social Behavior of Feral Horses on the Outer Banks" Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. in WWC’s Jensen Lecture Hall.

The presentation, free and open to the public, is a program of Sigma Xi, a national organization of research scientists. The local chapter consists of professors and students from Brevard College, Mars Hill University, UNC Asheville and Warren Wilson College, along with other members of the regional scientific community.

Madosky, who specializes in the intersection of conservation biology and animal behavior, is generally interested in how management and conservation efforts influence behavior. She has worked with students to investigate behavior of other species on the Outer Banks as well as the impacts of human interactions with elk in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
