Green Drinks - WILD FORAGING FOR A SUSTAINABLE LOCAL ECONOMY

Join us Wednesday September 11th at 6 PM for a presentation by Asheville’s “Mushroom Man” Alan Muskat on the opportunity of wild foods foraging as a boon for the local sustainable economy.
Alan is the founder and director of No Taste Like Home (NTLH) whose mission is to reconnect WNC inhabitants with their supportive bioregion through wild foods education and foraging. NTLH programs teach participants how to safely find, identify, appreciate, and maybe even EAT wild mushrooms and other extreme cuisine. NTLH programs also educate participants on wild medicinals, dyeing with mushrooms (that’s D-Y-E), and “why you would stoop so low as to gather wild foods in the first place” all with The Mushroom Man’s unique blend of poetry, stories, wit & wisdom.
No Taste Like Home has been featured on Bizarre Foods and is ranked one of Asheville’s Top Twelve Experiences.

On Wednesday Alan will share information on his new project that brings widespread free public training in foraging and connecting newly trained foragers with a purchasing system through The Asheville Wild Foods Market (AWFM). No Taste Like Home’s free wild foods classes and attendees are invited to sell to AWFM, which already has over 75 restaurant clients across North Carolina. Product sales then fund more free classes. Alan will discuss the opportunity that exists to learn, explore, and flourish within our unique and incredibly biodiverse Blue Ridge Bioregion while supporting the sustainable economic growth of our region.
