Train History Day
27 Jul 2013
Come learn about the 1914 Climax logging locomotive on display at the Cradle of Forestry, and how this and other old logging trains wound their way through the forest coves of western North Carolina. Climb on board and ring the old bell, blow antique steam whistles on the Ghost Train Whistle Truck, and learn how to move trains in a model railyard. Interpreters will also guide visitors on a railroad history journey through slide presentations, historic photos, and railroad memorabilia. Admission for this event is $5 for adults, free for children and pass holders.
The Cradle of Forestry is located at 11250 Pisgah Highway, in Pisgah National Forest on NC Hwy 276. It lies 14 miles north of Brevard, NC and four miles south of the Blue Ridge Parkway at MP 412. Call 828-877-3130 or visit http://www.cradleofforestry.com/ for more information. |
