Secrets: Freeing the Hidden Story
June 20-22, 7:30 p.m.
Diana Wortham Theatre, 2 S. Pack Square, Asheville, NC 28801

There are noble secrets, family secrets, religious, political, and very personal ones. Sometimes we hold onto secrets for control, opportunity, or protection. The subject matter is wide and deep. A performance of Asheville based Community Choreography Projects, Secrets: Freeing the Hidden Story presents a multimedia experience examining the topic of secrets, questioning why we keep them and from whom and what they really hold for us?

Under the guidance of Artistic Director Barrie Barton, the movement theater piece presents a distilled collection of stories and movements from 21 local cast members—many with no theatrical background—that have been composed and structured into a choreographic performance interspersed with short film vignettes. Woven through the evening performance are poetry, music and comedy that touches upon the topic of Secrets. It’s real life, real stories, and real people.

A portion of ticket sales benefits Four Seasons Hospice, a local nonprofit offering end-of-life care and support to patients and their families in Buncombe, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Transylvania, and Swain counties.

Tickets are $18. (828) 257-4530; www.dwtheatre.com; www.communitychoreography.com
