Denise Kiernan Reading & Booksigning
9 Mar 2013
On Saturday, March 9 at 7PM, Denise Kiernan will present her newest book The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win World War II. In The Girls of Atomic City, Denise Kiernan tells the astonishing tale of unsung women whose wartime work -- work they didn’t fully understand at the time –- had consequences that continue to reverberate today. This book is based on interviews with dozens of surviving women and other residents of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, a town created from scratch in 1942 as one of the Manhattan Project’s “secret cities.” Like The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Denise Kiernan’s The Girls of Atomic City is history and science made fresh and vibrant - a beautifully told, deeply researched, and suspenseful story.
This event is free and open to the public, and a booksigning will follow!
