WNC World Affairs Council - Great Decisions Series

5 Feb 2013

"The New Egypt" - Camp David provided stability and predictability between Egypt and Israel in an otherwise turbulent Middle East. Yet Egypt's bumpy transition from the autocratic rule of President Hosni Murbarak to its post-Arab Spring reality as put many on edge. How does Morsi's election, the process and provisions of the new constitution, and the emergence of a politicized Brotherhood affect politics in the region? What challenges does the new Egypt pose for American policymakers and US allies?

Dr. Samer Traboulsi is a professor in history of the Middle East at UNCA, has recently returned from a Sabbatical at Princeton where he was researching and writing about events in Egypt, is the speaker for this first event in WNC WAC's Great Decisions series that runs every week through mid_march.
