Hayrides through the Forest

Join park rangers at Lake James State Park for a fun-filled, informative hayride. Dress warmly, bring a camp chair and come early to enjoy hot chocolate, mulled cider and a crackling fire in the Paddy’s Creek Area bathhouse breezeway. After the sun goes down, ride the trails through the Mills Creek section of the park in search of nocturnal animals. Pre-registration is required, as only eight spaces are available for each of the following 30-minute hayrides: 7:30 p.m., 8:15 p.m., 9 p.m. To sign up, call the park office at 828-584-7728. Please specify what time and how many in your group. This program is specifically designed for youngsters so please make sure they dress appropriately for the weather.
