Organicfest 2012 Celebration

8 Sep 2012

Asheville's annual Organicfest will bring thousands to Pack Square Park to celebrate everything organic and green. In celebration of National Organic month, the Organicfest is a festive day to enjoy the goodness of organics from food and fashion to healthy, sustainable living.

Everyone is invited to the free celebration on Saturday, September 8th for a day filled with festive fun, yummy organic eats, live music by local entertainers; Chris Rosser, Sherri Lynn and The Mountain Friends Band, Dawn Carol, GreenWay and many more.
This year festival goers can learn more about eating and cooking healthy organic food at Organicfest's first Cook'n Organic! cooking classes and demos sponsored by Greenlife Grocery. Learn to make vegan sushi with Joanne Kushi or homemade pickles by the Pickle King, Lino Stanchich and a special cooking class just for kids by Lisamarie Nelson!

Festivities include an extra special guest speaker, Birke Baerh. This TedX sensation is an internationally known youth advocate for organic food and sustainable farming.

This family event includes lots of fun and eco-friendly activities for children including special entertainment on the Imagine OrganicKidz stage. And you won't want to miss the Organicfest "Bee" a Bug parade where kids are invited to come dressed as their favorite good bug (or garden fairy!) and parade throughout the park in a joyous celebration of the bounty of the garden!

Organicfest is presented by a local, all-volunteer non-proft group. This year they are partnering with Asheville GreenWorks to present a low impact, green event including recycling and composting. Sponsors include Organic Matters Media, Mountain Rose Herbs, World's Best Carrot Cake, 98.1 The River, The Laurel of Asheville, 880 The Revolution, Asheville Magazine and other local and national businesses and services.

Join the celebration of everything organic, green, good and fun at the Organicfest 2012 celebration!
