Enjoy Coffee and Elk Conversation with Friends of the Smokies

What goes great with coffee? Elk, of course. Join Friends of the Smokies for an “Elk Coffee Chat” and learn about the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, projects Friends of the Smokies is working on, and the majestic elk of Cataloochee Valley. These chats are free and open to the public.

Attendees will be joined by members of the Elk Bugle Corps, a team of volunteers working in Cataloochee Valley to educate visitors about the elk, and elk safety. Discover first-hand how heavy an elk antler is, what their coat feels like in winter, and much more. These intimate, informal presentations are the perfect time to share that question about the elk that you’ve always wondered about, but never had the chance to ask!

“Elk Coffee Chats” will be held in various locations throughout Western North Carolina:

• 2 p.m. Monday, April 30 at the Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity Conference Room, 33 Meadow Road, Asheville

• 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 at The Historic Calhoun House, 135 Everett Street, Bryson City

• 2 p.m. Monday, May 14 at the Community Foundation of Henderson County Conference Room, 401 N. Main Street, Hendersonville
