TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY
"Land
of Waterfalls"
Transylvania
County is known as "The Land of Waterfalls" because of the
abundance of falls in the
area. There are over 200 falls in the county.
Most of the falls can be
viewed from Highways US 64, US 276 and NC 281.
Some
of the falls found in the county include: Connestee, Rainbow,
Turtleback, Looking Glass,
Courthouse, Slippery Witch,
Sliding Rock, Dry, Twin
and Toxaway Falls.
Wherever you decide to go
in Western North Carolina...
Our waterfalls will fascinate
and mesmerize.
The US Forest Service Rangers
offer these suggestions
when visiting waterfalls:
DO NOT walk in the river
above any waterfall.
STAY on marked trails and
off unauthorized paths.
STAY
away from a fall's spray area.
WATCH children and keep
them under close supervision.
NEVER climb on rocks anywhere
around waterfalls.
We
hope that you enjoy the waterfall slide show below.

thanks to Rich Stevenson for the photographs used in the slideshow below.
