Shots fired in Myrtle Beach hotel; man fatally falls to ground while scaling building

Officers responded to the Hotel Blue in Myrtle Beach on Sunday after shots were fired in a room on the sixth floor.

The disturbance occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the hotel located at 705 South Ocean Boulevard.

Officials said no one was injured during the shooting, but a man was injured after officers arrived.

According to the Myrtle Beach Police Dept., as the people involved in the shooting were leaving the hotel room, one man exited through the balcony and was seen trying to climb down the back of the building.

Officials said he fell to the ground before reaching the fifth floor and was taken to the hospital.

Jorge Orellana, 27, later died at the hospital from massive trauma to his upper body, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

They added that everyone involved in the shooting has been identified and the gun was found.
