Burnsville man receives prison sentence for crash that killed two

A Burnsville man has been sentenced to prison for a crash that killed two people in McDowell County.

Officials say 67-year-old Ricky McPeters pleaded guilty to two counts of felony death by vehicle and possession of methamphetamine.

He was sentenced to two consecutive prison sentences of six to eight years.

The crash happened on US-221 near Marion in July of 2023.

SECOND PERSON DIES AFTER FATAL US-221 WRECK

Caius Arrington and his girlfriend Delaney Leierzapf were killed.

Troopers say McPeters crossed the center line, hitting the couple's vehicle head-on.
