RALEIGH, N.C. (WLOS) — North Carolina's House Speaker Tim Moore says Representative Susan Fisher of Asheville has announced plans to retire from her elected office at the end of the year.
Fisher has represented District 114, part of Buncombe County, for 18 years in the North Carolina House of Representatives. She is currently Minority Whip in the North Carolina House.

"Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand her dedication to her district and her constituents there," Moore said of Fisher in a news release on Monday. "It has been an honor to serve the people of North Carolina alongside Rep. Fisher, and I am thankful for her commitment to this body and to work tirelessly for those she represents."

NC11 Democratic Party Executive Committee released a statement about Fisher's reported retirement plans, praising her for the "tireless work that she has done in Raleigh."
"One would be hard-pressed to find a North Carolina House Representative that has advocated as hard for women’s rights, environmental reform, and countless other issues not just for the residents of District 114, but for all North Carolinians," a statement from the group said of Fisher.
Moore's office says Fisher will leave office on December 31, 2021.
