Asheville police search for suspect after stolen truck hits van on I-240

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Asheville police are searching for a suspect who fled after a stolen truck hit a van that had been abandoned on the side of the interstate just after 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities said a man called to say his truck had been stolen from the parking lot at the Citgo on Amboy Road. The driver fled up Amboy and got on Interstate 240 eastbound headed toward I-40. The truck hit a van that had been abandoned on side of 240 just past Brevard Road. The van, which had a flat tire, was knocked on its top. The suspect drove about another 50 yards before abandoning the truck and fleeing on foot.

Officers are using a K-9 to help track the suspect.
