Asheville Christian Academy employee on leave amid ongoing investigation

An employee of Asheville Christian Academy is on leave while under investigation by the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office.

That's according to a statement from the head of school, sent to News 13 by the academy.

The statement said, in part, that the sheriff's office is conducting an investigation, "regarding one of our staff member’s interactions with an Upper School student."

The school said the staff member has not been on the campus.

The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office told News 13 on Tuesday that they did not have any information to share at this time.

Below if the full statement from Dr. William George, Head of School for Asheville Christian Academy:

We recently learned from the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department about an investigation they are conducting regarding one of our staff member’s interactions with an Upper School student. The staff member is on leave and has not been on campus. We are doing everything we can to assist with the investigation, which we understand is currently open and ongoing.
We are actively working together to chart the best way forward for our school and community and praying for all involved.
