MTA COHOSTS NCTC
November 2-5 the North Carolina Theatre Conference will take place in Salisbury. MTA is
one of the co-hosts for this year's conference. MTA members who cannot attend the entire
conference are reminded that one day and two day registrations are available at the
conference site.Rumor has it that an MTA member may receive a major award at the banquet
Saturday night. MTA members are encouraged to attend to provide support.
The Piedmont Players of Salisbury will open their '95-96 season in the newly renovated
Meroney Theatre on Oct. 19th with Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar. They
invite you to attend and help celebrate their new/old home.
The Union County Players production of Dangerous Liasons has changed venues from Wingate
University to Spirit Square due to complaints about the plays subject matter.
MTA says THANKS to the Vance Theatrical Organization and Guest speaker George Parides,
President of North Carolina Arts and Entertainment Center/Wilmington for making our first
meeting this year a big success. If you missed Ruthless! then you don't rea lly know what
depths "going for the part" really entails.
Chris Zink, formerly of Pembroke State is the new TD at Catawba. Simon Donoghue has
announced his departure from Theatre Charlotte. He's returning to Belmont Abbey. Denise
Mallory-Hubbard,also of Theatre Charlotte, is moving to Wilmington to continue her
education.
The MTA script library is still in need of a home. If you or your organization can give these homeless waifs a home, give Ginger Heath a call. Ginger reports a big "thank you" to Doug Robinson for his recent donation to the library. If you've got any scripts just lying about, give Ginger a call or just bring them to the next meeting.
The MTA home page is finally online with Charlotte's Web: (http://www.charweb.org/arts/mta/mtapg.htm). Word has been sent forth about our web site throughout the World Wide Web. We're already listed at Theatre Central: (http://www.theatre-central.com). Check us out. If your group is not listed just get your info to Tom Hollis and it will be included in the next iteration of our web site.
Note the change in starting time for the November meeting. We will have Food and
Fellowship at 5:00pm instead of 5:30pm because of the early curtain time.

In the face of budget cuts in the state legislature the Theatre Section at the NC Arts Council has been combined with Music, Dance, Touring, Literature and Media Arts into a new umbrella section called Organization & Artist Support.
