DESCRIPTION: Directly above the 3-whorled leaves is a
single stalkless maroon flower that appears closed
because of its narrow erect petals. The leaves are
2 - 6" long, ovate and attaching directly to the
stem. They are mottled with a random light/dark
green pattern.
FLOWERS: April to June
HABITAT: Rich deciduous woods.
OTHER INFORMATION: This flower can be mistaken for Purple
Trillium but the mottled leaves and the unopened
look to the flower distinguishes it.
