Voices of America:
Oration for Democracy

Take some time to reaffirm your commitment to the shining, though not perfect, light of democracy and attend Voices of America: Oration for Democracy on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 29 and 30, at 10:00 am in the Diana Wortham Theater. Admission will be $2/students, accompanying teachers free, $5/adults.

Delivered by Thrice Told Tales, this mixed media presentation will feature speeches that charted the course of democracy and teach area students about the power of persuasive speech. Join students from around the county as we celebrate the brilliance and complex challenges of the ever-emerging face of America's culturally pluralistic democracy.

Featured speech authors will include: Powhattan, Patrick Henry, Sojourner Truth, Abraham Lincoln, Mother Jones, Franklin Roosevelt, Martin Luther King, Jr., John Kennedy, Ceasar Chavez, Ronald Reagan, Elie Weisel, Al Gore, and George W. Bush. The event's underwriting is from the Asheville Arts Alliance and is sponsored by the Center for Diversity Education.
