Job History 1959-64 |
Experience Makes A Difference. While in high school I got a job designing menus for Crown Press in Detroit, Michigan, working after school and summers from 1959 to 1964. I took a year off from attending college at Pratt Institute in 1964 to work for The American Museum of Natural History in New York. I did graphics and direct mail campaigns for Natural History and Nature & Science magazines. I graduated from Pratt in 1966 and accepted a position with Ford & Earl Design Associates in Warren, Michigan. One project was designing the packaging for Ford Motorcraft Auto Parts. I joined the Peace Corps in 1967 and went to Micronesia. I was the art director for the Micronesian Reporter, a government quarterly publication, and I helped organize the first Micronesia Arts Festival. In 1969 I returned to New York and went to work for Jarrin & Levitan Associates in Design. I helped design a series of exhibits for the United States Information Agency, a traveling exhibition called Artrain, and packaging for Mohawk Liqueurs and Faygo Beverages. I moved to Gloucester, Massachusetts in 1970 and formed Graffix Studios Photography & Design with a fellow Peace Corps Volunteer. Clients included ParaResearch Software, Cape Ann Medical Center, Harris Boats, and Open End--a maker of games. In 1975 I came to Asheville, North Carolina to be a partner in a new advertising agency--Kelso Associates Advertising & Design. Clients included An-Ton Chevrolet-Olds-Buick, Inn on the Plaza, Maggie Valley and Haywood County Chambers, WNC Golf Association, Waynesville Country Club & Inn, and Asheville Mall. I branched out on my own in 1984 as Bob Boeberitz Design. |
