New River Horseshoe Bend from UNC Collection at New River Celebration

Located along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Ashe County offers grand vistas, trails, and canoeing. 

  In Spring, mountain streams are stocked with rainbow trout, In Fall, hunting opens for deer, rabbit, turkey, and pheasant.  The New River, shown left, offers recreation as well as scenic beauty.

On Saturday, August 27th, hike the newly preserved Pond Mountain for glorious mountain views and natural beauty! The Blue Ridge Conservancy has protected this land.  Remarkable views are yours from the top of Pond Mountain.  Moderately difficult, the hike takes about 3.5 hours.  Homemade pizza is the finale at Ripshin Farm, another BRC protected property.   For more info on directions, start time, and to RSVP:  828-264-2511 or email info@blueridgeconservancy.org
