"In Whose Honor?" is a one-hour documentary that takes an analytical look at the long-running practice--and controversy--of using American Indian mascots and nicknames in sports. It follows the remarkable story of Native American artist and activist Charlene Teters from her beginnings protesting against the Indian mascot at the University of Illinois to the re-birth of the movement nationwide. "In Whose Honor?" received the Golden Apple Award from the National Educational Media Network, the leading organization for educational videos.(Ms. Teters, who is called the 'Rosa Parks of American Indians,' spoke at UNC-Asheville in November 1998. )
