Welcome to Girl Scouting in Watauga County. This site is designed to provide Girl Scouts and their families, Girl Scout leaders, and prospective Girl Scouts and leaders with information on badge work, patches, upcoming activities, etc.

Check out our Calendar for information on upcoming Service Unit events!

The program will take approximately two hours and will be administered by skilled volunteers. The program has three components.
  • The first twenty minutes will involve a recorded open discussion of the scouts’ feelings towards computers including their current computer use and knowledge. I would like to record these discussions for research purposes and will need a permission slip from the girls’ guardians to participate in the tape-recorded discussions (consent forms are available upon request).
  • The second part will last approximately 45 minutes. This section will give the scouts hands-on experience in writing computer programs.
  • The third part of the program will last 45 minutes and involve taking the computers apart, identifying important components and reassembling the computers.

The program will take place on the campus of Appalachian State University in the Department of Sociology and Social Work. I will be glad to schedule program sessions for individual troops throughout the year.

Please feel free to contact me for scheduling, comments and/or suggestions.

The Promise
On My honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

The Law
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
