Five Carolina Village employees have been selected as recipients of LeadingAge North Carolina awards honoring their commitment and excellence to the aging services field.

Bruce Bell, chief financial officer, was honored with the Career Excellence Award for Lifetime Achievement. Bell has served Carolina Village for more than 41 years.

Anita Pittman-Storm, Resident Care Services, who has served Carolina Village for more than 40 years, earned the Excellence in Leadership award.

Jon Renegar, director of operations, who has been with Carolina Village since 2011, was also recognized with the Excellence in Leadership award, a category that usually only allows one honoree.

Barbara Middleton, assistant housekeeping manager, who has served Carolina Village for more than 39 years, earned the Service Excellence award.

Kevin Parries, executive director, was honored with the Excellence in Advocacy award.

They join 13 other award winners statewide who exemplify excellence in advocacy, innovation, leadership, collaboration, governance and service benefiting the field of aging services.

This year’s awards were presented at a special luncheon during LeadingAge North Carolina’s annual conference May 8 at the Marriott Resort and Spa at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

“We are so proud of these fine individuals for their evident commitment to Carolina Village and its mission to serve our residents and our community,” said Parries. “Together, they have served the village for more than 145 years, which we think is pretty special. The residents who nominated them must think so, too.”

Carolina Village is Hendersonville’s only Type-A LifeCare Continuing Care Retirement Community.

LeadingAge North Carolina President and CEO Tom Akins said in a news release, “The actions of those who were honored remind us why we work in this field. They inspire us to be more openhearted because their compassion is unequaled. I am proud to work with this group of caring professionals.”

LeadingAge North Carolina, located in Raleigh, is an association of nonprofit providers of aging services. The association has 69 nonprofit member communities statewide that include continuing care retirement communities/life plan communities and affordable housing providers.
