Hendersonville Elks Lodge 1616, Asheville Elks Lodge 608 and Cedrie C. Carter, the recreation assistant for Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, celebrated Christmas serving by the patients.

Carter thanked the Elks for their support not just at Christmas but throughout the year. A total of 18 volunteers celebrated Christmas with the veterans serving turkey, soups and cakes.

Each veteran received socks and five gold dollars. A great time was had by all at a cost of $430 dollars, supplied by the Elks ENF program and volunteers contributions.

Dental care

On Nov. 12, nine veterans received additional dental care made possible through the Elks Freedom Grant and Hendersonville Elks Lodge 1616

The grant covered cleanings, fillings and extractions for the veterans. The dental office provided x-rays, oral examinations, tooth brushes, tooth paste and instructions for proper dental care at no cost to the veterans

The Freedom Grant was for $2,000 and the Hendersonville Elks Lodge supplied an additional $182.00.

Hendersonville Elks members volunteered a large number of hours in planning through execution of the project.
