The third grade class at Butteville Elementary School dedicated their Create-a-cow, MaMoo, to Pat Martin. “Mamoo” was a nickname that everyone called Pat. The teacher of this third grade class, Lindsay Pappas, is a granddaughter to Pat Martin. Pat passed away a few years ago but her memory will live on. The class wrote a booklet about her life and her many accomplishments. It notes that “Pat was a leader in all the different activities that filled her busy schedule. Just to mention a few, Cattlewomen, 4-H, Republican Women, Summer Bible school, Monday Bible school and the Siskiyou County Historical Society. Pat’s sweet spirit and enthusiasm was catching and it was a joy working with her. The children dressed their cow in red, white and blue as Pat was a true patriot. She loved her country. She was also born on Flag Day. Pat lived in Little Shasta and was involved in all the activities of the valley. In fact, community service was her bye word as she served everywhere. First in her heart was her family – She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a proud grandmother.”
