La Junta baseball headed to Tri-Peaks League Tournament

The La Junta High School baseball team will head to Colorado Springs on Saturday to compete in the Tri-Peaks League Tournament. The tourney will take place at St. Mary's High School's Morley Field at Grace Center.

The Tigers enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed in the East Division. They will play Colorado Springs Christian, the No. 1 seed in the West, at 10 a.m.

The other semifinal game will have St. Mary's, the East's No. 1 seed, hosting Manitou Springs, the West's No. 2 seed. That game will begin at noon.

Should the Tigers win their semifinal game, they will play either St. Mary's or Manitou Springs at 4 p.m. A loss will have them playing at 2 p.m.

The other round of the Tri-Peaks Tournament will be in Salida. In the first game, Trinidad, the East's no. 4 seed, will play the host Salida, the No. 3 seed in the West, at 10 a.m. The other game will have Buena Vista, the West's No. 4 seed, against Lamar, the East's No. 3 seed, at noon.

The winners will play at 4 p.m. while the losers will play at 2 p.m.

There is also a doubleheader between the two fifth seeds as Florence will host Dolores Huerta at 11 a.m.

Gate prices will be $5 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens. Only CHSAA CHSCA and Tri-Peaks League passes will be honored.
