ASHEVILLE – A city woman was injured Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while walking her child to a school bus stop.

The incident happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Deaverview Road near the North Bear Creek Road intersection.

The woman suffered a possible broken arm after a passing vehicle clipped her with a side mirror, Asheville police officer Adam Dodd said at the scene.

The child was not injured, he said. The woman was transported to Mission Hospital.

Officers did not release her name or the identity of the driver because the investigation was still under way.

Dodd said it appeared the driver may have drifted too far to the shoulder of the road before the accident. Charges are possible, Dodd said.
