Durham Freeway reopens after fiery crash involving six vehicles

The southbound lanes of N.C. Highway 147 (Durham Freeway) were temporarily closed after a crash in Durham on Monday morning.

DURHAM, N.C. — The southbound lanes of N.C. Highway 147 (Durham Freeway) were temporarily closed after a crash in Durham on Monday morning.

The road was closed near Exit 13 (Chapel Hill Street) after a serious crash involving six vehicles, including one that caught fire.

The surrounding stretch of road has since fully reopened. Drivers battled wet roads on Monday morning as precipitation is expected to continue throughout the day.

The crash occurred on the Durham Freeway near the Chapel Hill Street Exit on Monday morning. One vehicle caught fire.

Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. It's not known what caused the crash.
