Greenville plane crash: What we know

A deadly jet crash was reported Thursday afternoon at the Greenville Downtown Airport.

Here's what we know:

  • The crash was reported about 1:40 p.m.
  • Officials said there were two passengers and two pilots aboard.
  • The Coroner's Office has reported two fatalities. Two others were injured.
  • The two dead are the pilot and co-pilot, Greenville Fire Department spokesman Tristan Johnson said.
  • The co-pilot was identified as 66-year-old Stephen George Fox, of Indian Rocks, Florida. 
  • The pilot was a 49-year-old John Christian Caswell, of Port St. Lucie, Florida. 
  • The passengers were a married man and woman. They were in critical condition, Johnson said.

  • The jet was landing when it ran off a runway embankment and hit nose first, an airport official said.
  • The plane took off from Tampa and Greenville was its final destination, the National Transportation Safety Board said.
  • The plane had overshot the runway crashing on Tower Drive, with the fuselage breaking at the cabin.
  • The plane is registered toGlobal Aircraft Acquisitions LLC, based in Delaware. No further information about the company was available through public records.
  • The jet that crashed was a Dassault Falcon 50 that seats up to 19 passengers.
  • The Coroner's Office, the Police Department, Fire Department and Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

“We all saw it land, and for some reason it did not stop," airport director Joe Frasher said.
