UPDATE: Suspect in custody; woman, baby found safe after alleged kidnapping

UPDATE: The suspect in an alleged kidnapping of a mother and her baby has been taken into custody.

The woman and the baby have been found safe after a man broke into their home and forced them into a car at gunpoint, according to Fayetteville police.

The incident happened on Monday morning around 1:12. Wani Thomas was later taken into custody. He'll be processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center on Monday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) - Fayetteville police said a man broke into a home and forced a woman and a 1-month-old boy into a car at gunpoint, according ABC affiliate WTVD.

The home invasion and kidnapping happened Monday around 1:12 a.m.

Wani Thomas broke into a home on Tangerine Drive and forced Jasmine Livermore and a baby boy, Nathaniel Thomas, into a vehicle.

Police are investigating as a home invasion and kidnapping.

Thomas is considered armed and dangerous and last seen wearing a brown jacket with blue jeans. Livermore, 20, was last seen wearing grey pants, a brown shirt and a camouflage jacket.
