UPDATE: 3 people injured in crash on I-40 Eastbound in Haywood County
HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C (WLOS) — 5 PM UPDATE:
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said three cars were involved in a collision on Interstate 40 Eastbound near the Newfound Road exit.
One of the vehicles burst into flames.
Troopers said three people were injured, one seriously.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.

The road and shoulder have both reopened.

All lanes are now open, the shoulder is closed, though traffic remains severely backed up.
