A man on the run who is accused of robbing a bank in Hendersonville just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, has been identified by Hendersonville officials.

Hendersonville Police Department said at approximately 5:04 p.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the First Citizens Bank located at 1700 Four Season Boulevard regarding a bank robbery.

Witnesses told police the man -- a white man described to be in his mid-40s -- entered the bank and told tellers he had a gun. Tellers then told police the suspect left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no injuries sustained in the incident, police said.

Hendersonville police quickly identified the suspect as Kelvin Wayne Simmons, age 46, of Concord, N.C. He has multiple outstanding warrants for the same charge in other cities.

Simmons is described as a white male, about 5'5" tall, with blue eyes and brown hair.

Salisbury Police Department issued a photo of Simmons. He was wearing the same clothes Wednesday during the bank robbery as the ones he is wearing in the photo. He was also carrying a "Despicable Me" Minions lunchbox.

Although there is no vehicle description for the Hendersonville robbery, in previous robberies, Simmons was seen traveling in a possibly newer model Hyundai Santa Fe as well as a different model black SUV.

Hendersonville Police Department has obtained warrants on Simmons for Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Anyone with information on the identity or location of the suspect is asked to contact the Hendersonville Police Department by calling 828-697-3025. Police said Simmons should not be approached and should be treated as armed and dangerous.
