Asheville Silver Alert canceled; veteran found safe in Florida

Dec. 11, 2019, UPDATE: The Asheville Police Department reports, Horace Kinlaw has been found safe in Florida.

The Asheville Police Department issued a silver alert for 88-year-old Horace Kinlaw early Tuesday morning.

Kinlaw is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

He was last seen at the Walmart on Bleachery Boulevard.

Police say he was wearing a black Carolina Panthers pullover, a Korean War Veteran hat, jeans and glasses.

He was driving a 1999 Toyota Solara with a North Carolina license plate.

Police say after working with Kinlaw's family and cellular service provider throughout the day, there are indications that Kinlaw is in the Fayetteville, NC area and has been since early this morning.

Kinlaw's family has indicated that they have contacted at least one media outlet in that region and provided them with information in the hopes of locating him safely.
