Sheriff's Office seeks information on armed Etowah bank robbery suspect

Henderson County Sheriff's Office received a bank alarm notification on Friday, Nov. 27, at approximately 6 p.m. and is asking for the public's help in any information leading to the identification or location of the suspect.

The bank robbery occurred at United Community Bank in the Etowah community, located at 50 United Bank Dr.

Shortly after the alarm was received telecommunicators with the Henderson County 911 Center were able to confirm with bank staff that an armed robbery had occurred.

Upon officers' arrival, witnesses described the suspect as a white male, approximately 6’2 tall, wearing blue jeans, a camouflage coat, camouflage mask, black gloves and was carrying a backpack.

The suspect displayed a semi automatic handgun and demanded money from the tellers. The suspect then fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.
