According to our crew on the scene in East Asheville, law enforcement is looking for a suspect after a stabbing.

Deputies are searching for Christopher Scott Owenby after a victim was found near Fairview Baptist Church on Church Road. Investigators say Owenby is considered dangerous to the community and warn residents not to approach him.

If you see Owenby, call 911.

Police say Owenby knew the victim, so the stabbing is considered an isolated incident.

Deputies tell News 13 a 911 call came in Sunday afternoon about a “suspicious person” near the church. A deputy responded and found a stabbing victim with non-life threatening injuries.

The victim was transported to Mission Hospital.

Owenby is described as approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 260 pounds.

A right forearm tattoo reads "Owenby" with a hatchet skull design.

He has the words "Dakota Dylan" tattooed in the center of his back. His lower leg tattoos show machine guns and a soldier with a cross.

The sheriff's office tells News 13 that Owenby is wanted on 10 outstanding warrants.

According to the Black Mountain Police Department, Owenby is wanted on multiple felony charges resulting from a vehicle chase that took place on January 6, 2019.

The charges are as follows:

  • Felony fleeing to elude arrest
  • Felony possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Felony possession of a weapon of mass destruction (sawed-off shotgun)

At the time of the vehicle pursuit, Owenby had three additional warrants pending for breaking and entering.

If you have information about Owenby's whereabouts, contact the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office at 828-250-4503.
