ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The search is finally over for a breaking and entering suspect, a person Asheville police say was conducting a one-man crime spree.
Late Saturday night, William Henson III was taken into custody as a suspect in a string of crimes.
Police and those business owners hit say they're relieved.
Asheville police officers arrested Henson at an Asheville business, Biltmore Iron and Metal. They say they confronted him after he broke in and set off an alarm.
Police say when Henson ran from them, officers chased him and caught him.
Henson is suspected in burglaries of several locally owned businesses on Depot Street and Amboy Road.
Lt. Sean Aardema said it feels good to have Henson finally behind bars.
“We’re well aware of the effect his activities had over the past week or so, and how impactful they were to the business owners," he said. So you know, we’re happy for them that they’re gonna see some form of justice with him being arrested, but at the same time, also hopefully preventing him from victimizing anyone else.”
Henson faces at least the following charges:
We haven't yet heard about a court date or bond.
However, police say Henson did have an arrest history in Buncombe County.
