ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — UPDATE: The N.C. Center for Missing Persons has cancelled a Silver Alert previously issued for 88-year-old George Woodward Simpson.

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons, with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, has issued a Silver Alert for an 88-year-old man reported missing Friday, March 17.
George Woodward Simpson, 88, of Etowah, is believed to be suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's, and citizens are asked to be on the lookout for him.
Simpson is described as a white male who is 6'0" tall, weighs about 200 pounds, with short white hair and hazel eyes.
He was last seen on Pebble Beach Court in Etowah, wearing a navy blue T-shirt with a Louisiana logo and blue jeans.
He was driving a silver 2018 Subaru Legacy with North Carolina license plate number FEX3628.
Officials said he was possibly heading to the Asheville area.
