Local artist a finalist for Pabst Blue Ribbon can design that would cover 30 million cans

Pabst Blue Ribbon recently announced that Asheville artist Holden Mesk is among the top 25 finalists for their annual international art can contest, besting some 4000 entries that were received for the contest this year.

Now that the finalists have been decided, it's in the fans' hands to vote for their favorite finalist.

Every year, PBR hosts the Art Can Contest to give emerging artists from all over the world an opportunity to have their original artwork decorate 30 million cans of PBR across the U.S., and receive cash prizes for the top 3 winners. Since its launch the contest has covered over 350 million cans in art and awarded over $100k in prize money.

Should Mesk win, his original artwork will decorate over 30 million cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon nationwide and he will receive $10,000. Fans can cast their vote for their favorite can design HERE.

Voting closes on Feb. 17.

Mesk is an illustrator, collage artist, and graphic designer living in Asheville. His work has been seen with organizations like Slushcult, DivvyUp and Oak City Cycling Project x Trophy Brewing, among many others.

I'm so stoked to have made it into the top 25 out of 4,000 entries, and all the other finalists are top notch.

The Art Can Contest is one part of PBR's 1,000 creators initiative, launched in April 2020, which is dedicated to commissioning work from 1,000 creators across the country in the wake of COVID-19.

ART PROPOSALS SOUGHT FOR ASHEVILLE PARK

The winners of the Art Can Contest will be announced on Feb. 19, with voting closing on the 17th. This year’s grand prize winner will be announced on Feb. 26 and awarded $10,000, an interview with Juxtapoz and see their art covering over 30 million cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon this Fall.

Second and third place winners will receive prizes of $3,500 and $1,500.
