Asheville police seek information surrounding fatal Saturday morning shooting in Montford

Authorities are seeking information related to a homicide that took place in Asheville on Saturday morning, Nov. 28.

A release from the Asheville Police Department states officers responded to reports of shots being fired Saturday, Nov. 28, around 8:30 a.m., near the Montford baseball field at 90 Gay Street.

Upon arrival, officers found one male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and "began lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived," the release states.

Officials say the victim was taken to Mission Hospital, where he died from his wounds a short time later.

Detectives with APD's Criminal Investigations Section are currently working on several leads to determine the circumstances of the homicide.

Officials are "making efforts to make contact with the loved ones of the victim," Saturday's release states. "Until those notifications are made, no further information regarding their identity will be released."
