Frost attorneys subpoena county emails related to Tryon Equestrian Center

There are new developments tonight in the ongoing Buncombe County corruption case, this time, for Ellen Frost.

A new court filing by Frost's defense team is demanding emails ahead of her trial. They want any emails with keywords related to the Tryon International Equestrian Center.

FEDERAL GRAND JURY INDICTS FORMER BUNCOMBE COUNTY COMMISSIONER FROST

In a subpoena, Frost's attorney, Tony Scheer asked for emails for certain Buncombe officials and employees that contained the following words: "Tryon," "TIEC," "equestrian," "sponsorship" or "FFA."

An indictment alleges Frost used her connections to former county manager Wanda Greene to pay for advertising for the center with county funds. Frost is charged with conspiracy to commit federal program fraud, federal program fraud and mail fraud.

Frost has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
