Candler man killed in accidental storage unit fire

CANDLER, N.C. (WLOS) — A fire inside of a storage facility claims the life of a Candler man.

Enka-Candler Fire Chief Howard Beddingfield confirms on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, crews were dispatched to a storage facility along Candler Springs Loop Road in reference to a fire.

Authorities say 28-year-old man was living inside a storage unit that had been converted into an apartment.

The fire has been ruled accidental in nature and the result of an electrical equipment malfunction.
