Bomb squad investigates suspicious package left at blogger's home

LEICESTER, N.C. (WLOS) — An Asheville area blogger reported a suspicious package had been delivered to his home about 1 p.m. Friday.

The SBI bomb squad and Buncombe County Sheriff's Office investigated the package that was left at the home of Chad Nesbitt, founder of the Skyline News Facebook page.

Authorities cleared the scene about 5 p.m. after the SBI bomb squad used X-ray technology to determine that no explosives or chemicals were in the package.

Officials with the sheriff's office said there is no threat to public safety.

"Our detectives are opening an investigation to attempt to identify the source of package," sheriff's office spokesperson Aaron Sarver said.
