ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Asheville leaders want to hear from you about how to reduce plastic use.
The city is considering actions to curb the use of single-use plastic products, including Styrofoam food containers.
The city has a survey that gives residents and businesses an opportunity to share their experiences with these products, what actions they would like to see the city take and what kind of support would be necessary to reduce the consumption of these single-use plastic products.

In January, Asheville City Council approved a revision to Chapter 15 of City Code prohibiting plastic bags for curbside leaf collection. The revision was based on previous outreach and education initiatives. In an effort to support this transition, paper yard waste bags will be distributed at select City Parks & Recreation and Fire facilities during spring clean-up and fall leaf season while supplies last.
