The Adolescent Parenting Program was started in 1984 by the N.C. Department of Human Resources to help build positive parenting skills in adolescents. It is the goal of the program to offer free services leading to better parenting and economic self support for pregnant and parenting teens in need.

• To attend school and earn a high school diploma or GED
• To prevent a second pregnancy
• To improve parenting skills
• To acquire skills related to employment
• To reduce dependency on welfare

• Anyone 17 years of age or younger who is a first time parent or pregnant for the first time.
• There are no income guidelines for the Adolescent Parenting Program and all services are FREE.
