  • Trailhead: The trailhead is located directly across Highway 28 from the parking lot.
  • Distance: This trail is approximately a ¾ mile loop and is well used and easy to follow.
  • Difficulty: It is rated as an easy hiking trail and there are steps built into the steeper portions of the trail.
  • Use Guide: The Lewellyn Cove Nature Walk is highly recommended for novices or families with small children. With a group at a casual pace, allow 1 hour. For the more aggressive hiker, ½ hour should be sufficient time. Bring water and protective clothing if your trip is going to be more than a few hours.
  • Description: Informational signs are posted along the way describing the various trees and their uses. At the beginning of your walk you will come to a fork in the trail. You can take either branch, the right branch perhaps being a more gradual ascent of the ridge. During most of your walk you will be within hearing of the tumbling waters of a stream as it rushes down to join Fontana Lake. NOTE: If you take the left fork at the beginning of the trail, you will come to another fork at the top of the Lewellyn Cove trail. Take the right fork and descend towards the creek to say on the nature trail. The left fork leads to the Appalachian Trail and the Yellow Creek Mountain Trail.

There is an adjoining trail that runs from the stream in Lewellyn Cove to Fontana Village. It is just short of 1 mile along this connecting trail to a small roadside pull off just before Fontana Village.
