Bitterroot National Forest in Montana

This picture was taken in the Bitterroot National Forest in Montana on August 6, 2000.  The photographer, John McColgan, is a fire behavior analyst from Fairbanks, Alaska, who works for the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.  Since he was working when he took the picture, he cannot sell or profit from it.  The photo appears here to give recognition to the photographer and his once in a lifetime shot of the awesome nature of forest fires.
