Ethical Humanist Society of Asheville

18 Dec 2016

You are invited to join us for the Ethical Humanist Society of Asheville’s Winter Festival, 2016. It will be held on Sunday, December 18 at 2:00 at the Friends Meeting House, 227 Edgewood Avenue, Asheville. The program will be followed by a potluck meal. All are welcome!

Our plan for this year’s Winter Festival includes “This I Believe” statements from some famous people such as Edward R. Morrow, Albert Einstein and Eleanor Roosevelt, and also you, our members and friends. We hope you will be inspired to write your own statement; think of it as the ground rules of your life, the basic assumptions for what makes your life worth living, or some idea or purpose to which you devote your life.

If you decide to write and read your statement at our Winter Festival, please plan ahead, write your statement early, and send it to Joy McConnell at joyelayne@aol.com. Please contact Joy for the specifics.

The Ethical Humanist Society of Asheville is a non-theist alternative to traditional religion, a member of the American Ethical Union and an affiliate of the American Humanist Association. We endeavor to nurture the capacity and responsibility of human beings to act in their personal relationships and in the larger community to help create a better world. We are inspired by the ideal of working to create a more humane society, recognizing each person’s worth and dignity, and helping to bring out the best in him or her. We join together to assist each other in developing ethical ideas and ideals, to celebrate life’s joys, support each other through life’s crises, and to cultivate ethical behavior in our community.
