What:
An event celebrating Old Fort's railroad history, Railroad Day 2016 features a variety of interesting and fun activities for the whole family:
Trolley Ride from Old Fort Depot to Andrews Geyser & back (NOTE: small fee charged for trolley ride only)
Music by Possum Creek Band (bluegrass) and Roadside Attraction (rockabilly)
Special Exhibit “How the West Was Won: Trains and the Transformation of Western North Carolina"
Historic Rail Cars
Railroad Authors
Talks by Ray Rapp about fraud and corruption on the Western North Carolina Railroad, Steve Little about convicts and the construction of the railroad, and Roger Smock, an NCDOT Rail Safety Consultant

Children's activities, which include: Costume/Photo Booth, Face Painting, Hobo Signs & Symbols game, educational artifacts from the North Carolina Transportation Museum
